KHATARUA FESTIVAL

Khatarua in Uttaranchal is a special festival of the agricultural society and celebrated on the first day of the month of Ashwin in mid September. It is celebrated to mark the beginning of the autumn. It is a festival celebrated with enthusiasm by the pastoral and the agricultural society of Uttaranchal. Khatarua in Uttaranchal is one of the prime festivals in Uttaranchal, which is celebrated with fervor and zeal.
 

The state of Uttaranchal is a land of festivities and fairs, each of which are colorful and distinctive. Among the various festivals celebrated, the Khatarua in Uttaranchal in India is the one to look forward to. People of the agricultural society eagerly look forward towards the season to celebrate the festival with gusto. The festival is marked with exuberance and celebrated in truly traditional style. Elaborate arrangements and preparations are made to celebrate it in style and you can see that the mood of festivity is high in the air. Other than signifying the mark of autumn, this festival is also observed to celebrate the victory of the king of Kumaon.

Dance, music and good food are a part of any festival and this is no different when it comes to the celebration of the Khatarua in Uttaranchal. People are seen dancing and singing to mark the beginning of the autumn. People light bonfires and children are seen dancing around the fire. People uphold flags to celebrate the beginning of the autumn season. Villagers offer cucumbers to the fire of Khatarua, which is said to destroy all kinds of evil influences.

The scene of merry making, children dancing around bonfire and people celebrating the festivity, the enthusiasm and excitement revolving around this festival is amazing.
